About Harvey

Born in Lafayette, Lousiana, Harvey Trahan grew up listening to Cajun and Zydeco greats such as Clifton Chenier and his brother Cleveland. As a young boy, Harvey spent many Sunday afternoons at the Bon Temps Rouler in downtown Lafayette, mesmerized by the rich rhythms of Cleveland Chenier on rubboard(frottoir) and the original melodies of Clifton on accordion. The entire audiencea mixed group of young and old and different raceswas usually up on its feet dancing. Harvey observed how music had the power to bring people together of diverse backgrounds in a shared, joyous experience.

Harvey fell in love with this musical genre and has continued to celebrate the Cajun-Zydeco traditionhaving played rubboard (à la Chenier) with his Texas Hill country band Zydeco Blanco since 1997.  He now creates rubboards for adults and children to enjoy. These amazing percussion instruments are designed with a professional traditional square bottom and a professional shield shape board.  The child-size, smaller rubboard is also crafted with the square bottom and shield shapes. Furthermore, all are made with LOVE.
